How will peer supporters work together in a mental health institution? : Focusd on experiences of professionals and peer supporters

Abstract
For peer support to be effective in the mental health system, partnership with professionals is important. The purpose of this study is to understand the experiences of professionals and peer supporters working together in a mental health institution. To this end, in-depth interviews were conducted with a total of 15 peer supporters who are working with a fixed salary and professionals from the institution. As a result of the analysis, 11 themes were derived : "Coordination of unspecified tasks", "A great burden on administrative work", "The process of enduring and communicating", "Expectation of role as co-worker rather than a service user", "The role of a peer supporter between the professionals and service users", "formed a partnership as a team", "Consideration for mental burden and legitimate rights", "empowerment of peer supporters", "Relationship between professionals and peer supporters according to organizational culture", "Changes made by peer supporters" , "Mutual understanding and education for peer support". Based on the results, some suggestions are proposed for partnership with peer supporters and professionals in mental health institutions.
